Widely regarded as one of the most innovative acts to come out of the UK, the sublime, genre-defying sound of Red Dirt Skinners is created by husband and wife team, Rob and Sarah Skinner. Having now emigrated to Canada and living in Ontario, if you like songs influenced by Pink Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel, Supertramp, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash, you'll love the Red Dirt Skinners. After 5 successful Canadian tours, the Skinners were invited to become permanent residents of Canada, and they now make their home in Ontario.

Classical by training - eclectic by design - Quartetto Gelato not only thrills its audiences with its musical skills, but also offers the bonus of a brilliant operatic tenor. with a repertoire that spans the globe, the group's theatrical stage presence and relaxed humour establishes an intimate rapport with audiences worldwide. They have produced eight CDs, and hail from the Toronto area.

Horizon ridge is a 4-piece band of fine multi-instrumentalists and seasoned vocalists known for their intuitive, tight harmonies and polished a cappella singing. Helen and Steve Goodchild, Peter May, and Dianne Quinton take musical inspiration from their roots and subsequent journeys near and far. They are based in Calgary and have played in festivals, music clubs, and concerts across Canada, the USA, and the UK. Horizon Ridge brings an engaging stage presence to their performances. With influences spanning traditional and contemporary folk, country, blues, rock, and gospel, the band is versatile and adventurous. Their first CD, Enough is All You Need, was released in July 2016.

Gerry Hebert has performed and taught for 25 years here in Alberta and has many performance credits, including appearances with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Calgary Jazz Orchestra, many theatre productions, and played in over 25 CD recordings plus numerous TV and radio broadcasts. He studied music in Paris, the Banff Centre, and U of C. His quartet of professional musicians with stellar reputations are all strong advocates for the live music scene in Alberta. Johanna illanpaa is a highly acclaimed Swedish-born artist, now living in Alberta. There's a vibrant colour in her voice, and her vocals are expertly clear, gently raw, and intensely bold. She has performed across North America and in front of the 60,000 plus crowd at the Montreal Jazz Festival. She has recorded 4 albums and been nominated for Best Female Vocalist at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
The 'On The Edge' Concert Series is a non-profit community program of Red Deer Lake United Church in southwest Calgary. Our mission is to host quality live musical acts at an affordable price for music lovers in Calgary and the surrounding Foothills communities. We strive to bring to our stage a variety of entertainment and musical genres that will appeal to a diverse audience. We are especially proud to showcase Alberta and Canadian talent, but may at times bring in acts from the USA.
The 'On The Edge' Concert Series uses the church sanctuary, which doubles as our concert hall, with seating for up to 300 people on a first come, first-seated basis. We have an exceptional venue with padded seating, excellent acoustics and a first class sound system. We are wheelchair accessible and a non-smoking environment.
Before our evening concerts, we usually offer a light supper including coffee, tea and pop, plus Chapman's ice cream bars. These refreshments (excluding the light supper features) are also available at intermission.
Concert time: 7:30pm or 3pm (January concert only)
Doors open: One hour prior to concert time.

$25 (Adult) or $10 (Youth 13-18 yrs)
Season Tickets: $80 (Adult only)
Children 12 years of age and under are free, but must be accompanied by an adult.
Cannot attend a Performance? Tickets are transferable. If you find you are unable to attend a concert, please give your ticket to a friend. The RDLUC Concert Series is unable to offer a refund.
