Fighting Hunger in Our Community: Food Pantry Initiative
At Red Deer Lake United Church, we believe that no one in our community should go hungry. Our food pantry is a vital resource, providing nutritious food and essential supplies to families and individuals in need. More than just a place to pick up groceries, it serves as a lifeline, helping to reduce stress, support health, and bring stability to those facing challenging times.
With the rising cost of living and food prices, many Canadians—right here here in Alberta and Calgary—are feeling the strain. As food insecurity continues to grow, the need for safe, reliable access to nutritious food has never been more critical.
Food pantries like ours are essential resources, especially in Calgary’s deep south, where opportunities to access free food programs are limited. By supporting our pantry, you’re helping to ensure that everyone in our community can have enough to eat and the support they need to thrive.
We are committed to meeting this need. With your support, we keep our Food Pantry well-stocked and ready to assist anyone who comes through our doors. We are proud to partner with Fish Creek United Church (FCUC), the Calgary Food Bank, and The Veterans Food Bank to strengthen our reach and ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
Why Food Pantries Matter
Immediate support: They provide essential food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity
Stretch household budgets: By providing groceries, families can better afford housing, utilities, and healthcare
Strengthen community connections: Food pantries offer a safe, welcoming space where people can find help and support
