Bring Lent to Life Through Art!

ZOOM MEETINGS

The first hour of each Saturday in Studio session will include a Zoom meeting, and is open to all who are interested. Rev. Danah will use the first 10-15 minutes to answer questions new, or all interested participants might have. This is a great time to find out if this is something you would like to do, and answer any questions you might have.

Then, the remainder of the zoom meeting will be for in person and virtual participants will explore ways to interpret and image the scripture readings, engage in group discussions, and reflect on the key themes of Holy Week and Good Friday.  This will be very similar to a Bible study, but the emphasis will be on how one might image the text that they are working with. It’s a chance to brainstorm and help to give ideas to possible participants.

Zoom visitors are also welcome to simply listen to the discussions, offer ideas, or actively create artwork inspired by the scripture.

IN STUDIO

Sessions run every Saturday from March 8 to April 12, 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM at McDougall United. Spaces are limited,  registration with Danah or Office is required to participate in person. Art supplies are provided in the studio; home supplies can be arranged upon request.

In-person participants will enjoy light snacks and coffee.

AT HOME:

Working at home is a terrific option, and a way for you to do an inner journey this Lenten season at your own pace and timeline. If you do plan to work at home, please do contact Rev. Danah, so he can get a sense of what Art will be part of the show.

Further, if you need some guidance, you are strongly recommended to join the zoom meetings on Saturday, and/or reach out to Danah personally with a text/phone call or email. Art supplies will be provided in the studio, and for those working at home, supplies can be arranged upon request.

Lent Art Walk-Through: A Journey Through Art and Scripture

This Lent season, we invite you to take part in a spiritually enriching experience with our Lent Art Walk-Through. This unique event will focus on scripture readings used by McDougall United and Red Deer Lake United churches worship services throughout Lent, and then go into themes Holy Week, and Good Friday. The walk-through hopes to invite contemplation and creative expression, culminating in a community exhibition that showcases the artwork created by folks from our community, who were inspired by these themes.

The exhibit will be set up in the Chapel at Red Deer Lake for Palm Sunday (April 13) and will be available for viewing from Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM.

Afterward, a more limited version of the exhibit will be available to view at McDougall United before and after the Good Friday Service, on Holy Saturday (12:00 PM - 3:00 PM), and on Easter Sunday.

And while we encourage all to come experience the finished product, we are also seeking artists from all backgrounds to participate by creating pieces for the event. So, whether you are an experienced artist or simply someone looking to explore a new form of expression, this event offers a space to connect with others, reflect on scripture, and share your artistic voice. You will be provided with scripture readings, inspiration resources, and the opportunity to work either in community studio sessions at McDougall United or from the comfort of your home. If you're interested in contributing a piece of art for the show, please…

Attend, contribute, or both, we truly welcome your participation!
