An Artistic Exploration of Suffering, Release, and Triumph Through Lent

About:

During Lent, Rev. Danah Cox invites people from our shared ministry of McDougall, Ogden, and Red Deer Lake United Churches, as well as the wider community to take part in a shared creative program focusing on Lenten themes of suffering, release, and triumph drawing on deep personal connections, scriptures, and stories of global social justice. This is open to artists and non-artists alike with many ways and mediums to engage creatively.

Timeline:

Participants will be invited to Saturday lunch and discussions at the Red Deer Lake site (upper room) and open studio times on Tuesday evenings at the McDougall site (basement). Thursday evening zoom meetings are also available by appointment.

Cost: Free but contributions welcome (at the events)

Schedule:

Saturday February 21, 11 am - 1pm (RDLUC): Project introduction and overview- come for lunch and hear about the program and the ways you can participate.

Tuesday February 24, 7 - 9 pm (MUC): Drop-in studio time at McDougall United- come for all or stay for some. The time is yours to create and consult.

Saturday February 28, 11am - 12:30 pm (RDLUC): Discussion/lunch focus group “suffering”

Tuesday March 3, 7 - 9 pm (MUC): Drop-in studio time at McDougall United- come for all or stay for some. The time is yours to create and consult.

Saturday March 7 (RDLUC), 11 am - 12:30 pm: Discussion/lunch focus group “release”

Tuesday March 10, 7 - 9 pm (MUC): Drop-in studio time at McDougall United- come for all or stay for some. The time is yours to create and consult.

Saturday March 14, 11am - 12:30 pm (RDLUC): Discussion/lunch focus group “triumph”
