Participants will create personal masks that explore both the public self and the private self.

The outside may represent the roles we play, while the inside may reveal hopes, fears, questions, dreams, and truths that are often left unspoken.

This workshop invites honesty, self-reflection, and compassionate conversation in a supportive environment.

What to expect:

Growing up in New Orleans I have always loved the tradition of masks in celebration, creativity, and self-expression that the spirit of Carnival can inspire. And so, we'll begin with a brief reflection on some interesting aspects of masquerading, then spend most of our time creating our own unique masks using a variety of materials—from paint and collage to feathers, wire, and other decorative elements.

This will be a very casual event, and no artistic experience is necessary. Whether your creation is simple or elaborate, decorative or wearable, the focus is on the creative process rather than the final product.

Along the way, we'll reflect on themes of joy, freedom, authenticity, and the ways creativity can help us see ourselves—and one another—with fresh eyes.

All materials will be provided. Just come with an open mind, a willingness to play, and clothes you don't mind getting a little messy.
