Day of the Dead Celebration and Remembrance Gathering
Day of the Dead Celebration and Remembrance Gathering
Friday, November 1 | 6:00–7:30 PM
Red Deer Lake Chapel
Hosted by Rev. Danah Cox
You are warmly invited to an evening of remembrance and celebration as we honor the lives of those who have gone before us. On this Day of the Dead—also known as All Saints Day—we’ll gather as a community to share stories, memories, and gratitude for the people who have shaped our lives.
Please bring an item or two that reminds you of someone special who has passed — a photo, a small keepsake, or something that simply brings them to mind. We’ll place these items on a shared table of remembrance at the front of the chapel.
After a brief reflection on the meaning of this day, Rev. Danah Cox will begin by sharing a personal story of remembrance. Then, all who wish to participate will be invited to come forward, show their item, and share a short story or memory about the person they are uplifting. After each sharing, we’ll take a quiet moment together in prayer to celebrate that person’s life.
This gathering is meant to be light, reflective, and gently emotional — a time to look into the well of memory and feel its depth, but not to fall into it. You may find yourself misty-eyed, but this is not a service designed for those in the midst of raw or overwhelming grief.
For those who are walking more closely with pain or loss, please know that there will be another opportunity for deeper reflection and comfort during our Longest Night Service in December, a time specially created for those experiencing sorrow through the holiday season.
Light refreshments will be served. We’ll begin together at 6:00 PM and conclude by 7:30 PM. All are welcome.
Come and join us as we share, remember, and celebrate the lives that continue to bless us still.
